Antelope hunting

Antelope is the probably the easiest big game animal to hunt successfully, but it isn't the nicest to eat. Many hunters in Wyoming won't even bother to hunt antelope as a meat animal. Our family does, because they are relatively easy to get, so it is an easier species to use to teach kids to hunt.

Antelope facts

The medium sized impala is probably the most graceful of all the antelopes. They occur in small bachelor herds or in breeding herds consisting of male and female with young. The Selous has huge herds of sable antelope and estimated 10,000 of them although they are rare in the tourist parts of this huge reserve. The largest of antelopes is the Eland which can grow to a staggering 700kg and is able to jump up to two meters from a standing position.

Hunting rifles for Antelopes

Hunting rifles are distinguished by their performance standards and are available in different calibers and cartridges. They are designed specifically for hunting big or small games matched for long shots for hunting deer, antelopes, and prairie dogs.

Kenya and Antelopes

The Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro Conservation Area is famous for the enormous herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope where the calves are born before the grazing runs out and the herds move on. In Kenya, Tsavo East National Park is renowned for the largest herds of elephant in the country, whereas the Masai Mara is home to all of the Big Five as well as most other species as well as being the best place to see the migration south of the wildebeest, zebra and antelope back to the plains of the Serengeti.

Shawls and Antelopes

You may be wondering why there’s so much fuss about shahtoosh shawls. We take the wool of plenty of other animals, after all. That’s true, but the Tibetan Antelope is different.

In order to collect the fine hairs, these beautiful animals have to be slaughtered. Yes, that’s right. Where we sheer or comb other animals in order to harvest their wool, the hairs of the Tibetan Antelope need to be individually plucked from the skin.

Just imagine, three animals are killed for every shahtoosh shawl sold!

CONCLUSION

Antelopes are used for many things in particular they are used to be hunted. They are also use for their skin. When Antelopes are not being killed or abused Antelopes are very interesting animals to watch.
