Poverty in Africa
In Africa, poverty is an issue that's been long ignored by the developed countries. It's yet to receive the attention and dedication it deserves in order to face this challenge squarely. The number of people living in extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa grew from 217 million in 1987 to more than 300 million in 1998.
Travel insurance for Africa
Travel Insurance will ensure that most, if not all the costs for these unforeseen circumstances will be covered. Travel Insurance is purchasable prior to making any significant steps towards your planned African safari. It will definitely serve as a safety net for you and the people you will be traveling with. Getting an insurance cover is important when traveling to Africa; in fact it is a requirement for your own good.
Beads in Africa
In Africa, there is a thriving bead export business. Paper beads in all sizes and shapes are helping women to rise out of poverty. Women in many parts of Africa have few economic opportunities and in Africa, women are fleeing the civil war and settling near the African capitals eg Kampala. Instead of finding a brighter future, they found HIV, starvation and expensive housing. There is hope for these women-Bead For Life.
Greed in Africa
Why does the white world of the West seem more concerned for the welfare and security of Africans than do many of Africa's tyrannical leaders? I raise this question because the West is usually despised as former colonialists and imperialists and is no longer welcome to rule with its law and order but is begged to bail African countries out once their elected leaders rip them off (bloating foreign bank accounts) and strip their countries bare by grievous mismanagement.
CONCLUSION
When people hear the word "Africa" a number of things come to mind – usually involving wild animals, exotic adventure, breathtaking sunsets and hot, sunny days. If those are the pictures that come to mind, you wouldn't be too far off. Anyone who has experienced Africa will tell you that words cannot fully describe just how unique and wonderful it is.
