Introduction to Psychology

Psychology is a science that studies behavior, both of human beings and animals, it has similarities with other subjects such as philosophy, biology and sociology. for most people though, psychology is connected popularly with the treatment of mental disorders (clinical psychology) or assisting the resolution of relationship problems (counselling psychology).

People do not usual realize that as the study of human and animal behaviours involves how these organisms see the world around them and how they respond to the things around them, this can be observed in all areas of human activity. The different areas of investigation for psychology are very vast and vary this is evident with the many areas, such as: Organizational Psychology, Environmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Forensic Psychology and Sports Psychology.

What Psychology aims to do

Psychology searches for answer to that question "why?". From research psychology then develops reasons or theories for human behaviour, this ongoing approach to study often develops new approaches to currently discovered knowledge and ads to it. Psychology is thus concened with both the normal and the abnormal behaviors.

Development of Psychology

Psychology is not the oldest science rather it can be seen as one of the young sciences it does not stand still, it grows all the time influencing other subjects, most notably those subject that tended in the past to place less importance on human interaction elements, like: Engineering, Management and the Law.

The Main focus of Psychology

The main focus of psychology practice revolves around the observational study and treatment of the mind and emotional problems whatever the trigger to these problems may be. This maybe stress related or related to the working environment, traumatic or shocks following a life changing event or the growth of a particular form of mental illness like schizophrenia. Here from research, whether independently or within a multidisciplinary team, the psychology always has an attempt to offer answers and methods to getting the answers.

CONCULSION

Psychology is truly a line of studies that will keep you thinking it has no end as is a great feature to the social fabric of society. The answer to that question..."why?" who will ever answer it and if they do who is to say that they are right?
