Finding the right health insurance Organisation.
Health insurance reviews should be done when looking for insurance a common insurance policy is that of an employer policy. If you are Self employed you would have to look for your own policy. Individual policies do have a stigma of being expensive though, but the internet has brought forward a foray of online companies waiting in line for you custom.
The different types of health insurance policies.
For a low cost health insurance you are best to go with Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). They have better terms than a Fee-for-Service plan. HMO’s have a pre paid health plan that is very comprehensive. This health insurance includes doctors visits, hospital stays, emergency care, surgery, lab test, x-rays and therapy. The will all be organised by the HMO within its offices and/or through doctors and other health care professionals working for them. The disadvantage to this health insurance is that the providers of your care can only come from the HMO. Payments are lower though, they average at about $5 per doctor visit and $25 dollar for an emergency room visit.
The medical cost are less than in a fee-for-service plan HMO’s will also provide office visits, well baby checkups, immunizations, mammograms and physicals. The sometimes also offer outpatient mental care. With HMO their are no forms to fill in you have a card that you use show when checking it at a doctors office or hospital.
Another type of health insurance is Preferred provider Organization (PPO), which is a combination fee-for-service insurance and HMO. A PPO health insurance policy has a number of providers. When you choose a specific provider in their network, most of the medical expenses are taken care of. This is similar to the HMO, in that you show a card to your provider instead of filing in a claims form. And you pay small additional payment.
If you go with a PPO you are obliged to choose a specific doctor who will be solely be responsible for monitoring your health care. Unlike the HMO you do have the choice of out side physicians, and you can still be within their plan, although you are likely to have to pay more for this privilege. PPO’s are most common for covering preventative care, this will include doctors visits , baby care, immunization and mammograms just like HMO’s.
