Let’s break this down…Page rank, as the name suggests its a ranking system, used by the biggest online search engine company, namely Google! If you haven’t heard of them then you are very new to search, or?? … I’m speechless!
Anyway google are a huge search engine. And they own other huge sites such as youtube a popular video site, and a paid advertising platform called adwords.
Anyway I like to keep things simple so…Page rank can be defined as a voting system that measures the popularity of your site.
Page rank ranges from 1 to 10
Page rank is gain buy you have lots of links pointing back to your website, these can be links that people put on their site which point back to your site, or you can go out and put links on other peopls sites that let you, pointing back to your website.
Note *Remember page rank is unique to google, Yahoo and MSN search engines don’t neccesarily use it*
Emphasis is usually on Google because they are at the cutting edge of the search engine industry so listings in Yahoo and Msn will usually follow if you have good page rank.
A good common page rank is a 3, 4 is probably above average and anything higher is excellent.
If you don’t have a page rank tool bar go and get one, its a good indicator of you link building popularity and its never a good idea to work blind.
