What does RSS mean?

RSS can mean three things. The first RSS (RDF Site Summary RSS 0.9) was developed by Dan Libby for Netscape. Some months later a simpler and easier-to-use edition which was called Rich Site Summary or RSS 0.91, this wasn’t fully developed and had no owner. As more and more people used RSS, an upgraded version of RSS 0.91 was made. Later in 2005, Microsoft developed Really Simple Syndication in relation to its Simple Sharing Extensions.
